Improving International Nutrition Because we have long experience working with the food industry, we are in a unique position to help the World Health Organization in its campaign to combat malnutrition and obesity in both developed and developing countries. Since early 2002, we have helped WHO establish a collective dialogue with the world's largest processed food and restaurant companies, whose engagement is critical to addressing the world's global nutritional challenges. As WHO developed its global policy on obesity and physical inactivity, we crafted an engagement process to support policy discussions related to marketing to children, product reformulation and development, consumer education and other relevant issues. For this campaign, we tapped into our network formed by current and previous client work, and brought to the table:
We are also advising WHO on its international media and communications strategy, helping it send a wake up call about poor nutrition and physical inactivity and their link to chronic disease, both in the Similarly, we are working with the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition in its efforts to provide fortified foods to those suffering from micronutrient deficiencies. We are currently helping GAIN create private-public partnerships with corporations, national governments and other non-profit agencies.
